Deputy Ian Michael Deutch was killed in duty in Pahrump, Nevada while responding to a shooting call on April 26, 2010. Deputy Deutch is a member of the Nevada Army National Guard and on the second day back on duty after returning from deployment to Afghanistan. He has served with Nye County Sheriff's Office for six years. In honor, $ 12,000 scholarship was developed to be given to a student of University of Phoenix who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration degree program.
